US: Pantoprazole: Authorised generic/ Teva & Sun

UPDATE [01/FEB/2008]

The Pantoprazole saga has taken a lot of interesting turns in the last 24 hours…
Wyeth and its business partner, Nycomed, announced on Jan 29, 2008 that they are launching a generic version of PROTONIX(R) tablets. Wyeth's generic version will be distributed by Prasco.
So, Wyeth has moved ahead with launching an authorised generic!

Simultaneously, Teva too announced that its standstill agreement with Wyeth/ Altana regarding additional shipments by Teva of generic Protonix has terminated as a result of Wyeth's launch of an authorized generic product. It had earlier launched the 20 mg and 40 mg generic version.
This new move means that Teva will [possibly] ship in additional generic quantities, soon.
Teva said on 01/Feb/08 that it has not reintroduced its generic pantoprazole and has no immediate plans to resume additional shipments of the generic.

Sun too has launched its generic Pantoprazole Sodium Delayed Release tablets, 40 mg.
